HISTORY OF IMA HYDERABAD CITY BUILDING

Owing to the keen interest taken by Major General S. L. BHATIA, the then Inspector General, Medical & Health Services and the Honorable Minister Sri. Phool Chand Gandhi Govt. of Hyd, very kindly granted the present site measuring 2565 sq yrds on 99 years lease on a nominal rent by a deed dated 12th June 1952.

The construction of the ground floor was taken on hand in the month of August 1952 and was completed within a year at the cost of nearly Rs 65,000/-. Kashibai Kirloskar Rs. 50,000/- for the construction of “Dr. K. Kirloskar Auditorium’ on the first floor of the I.M.A. Building.

Construction of the ground floor was taken on hand in the month of August, 1952 and was completed within a year at a cost of nearly Rs. 65,000. Dr. S. G. Sen, the President of the 30th All-India Medical Conference held at Hyderabad, declared the building open on 27th December, 1953 in the presence of a thousand delegates from all over India.

It is very largely due to the efforts of Dr. U. R. Pargoankar, that the I.M.A Building came into existence from 1941, as Joint secretary, Vice President and President of the Hyderabad State Branch of I.M.A. He had been indefatigable in his efforts build up its strength and stability. To enshrine his memory the spacious hall in the ground floor on the building is named after him.

It was further declared that the following three Institutions shall be allowed free use of the premises of the Trust Estate – viz.,
